NSM in Milwaukee:

Began in 2007, the New Sanctuary Movement is the faith-based component of Voces de la Frontera, a member-driven, non-profit immigrant and worker rights center. We are connected to the NSM at a national level. The New Sanctuary Movement strategy is shaped to fit the present challenge of the immigrant rights’ movement to more deeply develop our base, to educate and engage new allies in the faith community and families who are facing separation due to deportation.

History:

The New Sanctuary Movement (NSM) is a national movement, rooted in the values and vision of the Sanctuary Movement of the 1980’s, when communities of faith rose up to provide refuge, support, and advocacy for refugees from Central America who were not being granted legal immigration status in the U.S. In recent years, communities of faith have risen again to support families who are facing separation due to unjust immigration laws, and together with immigrants, we work for justice and dignity for all.
